In most hindu houses in India, you will find a pooja room (prayer room), where inturn, you will find a lamp (Vilakku) , photos/statues of Gods and a Maa (rice flour) kolam (a decorative pattern drawn) . You will also hear the divine voice of M.S. Subbulakshmi (the lady in the picture) resonating in the air both in the morning and evening, in the form of her very famous renderings of Suprabhatam (auspicious dawn) and Sahasranamam (1000 names of vishnu).
